SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the promotion and enforcement of quality standards within the supply base as defined in the MSSC Supplier manual with an emphasis on supplier development and continuous improvement of purchased component quality performance that meet or exceeds expectations. Supplier PPAP

Job Security
•    Monitoring of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) of the suppliers 
•    Maintain proper records and backup documentation;
•    Management / Escalation in case supplier APQP deviates from timing, cost or Quality
•    Conduct frequent Supplier visits, progress tracking incl. tool progress tracking
•    Follow BMW Standards as MMR/ QMT
•    Manage the suppliers in the QPF System
•    Communicate to all levels of the organization in regards to safety, morale, quality.
•    Respond to employee issues, concerns, suggestions and complaints within 48 hours;
•    Develop work instructions for processing and assessing the quality of incoming purchased components;
•    Evaluate statistical data submitted by supplier;
•    Assist with root cause analysis of concerns flagged by manufacturing of purchased components;
•    Notify supplier of concerns/rejects related to purchased components and initiate corrective actions - coordinate third party sorts as needed and review data related to sort results;
•    Issue and process defective material reports (OR); 
•    Interact with Materials department on issues pertaining to shipment rejections or major on-line rejections;
•    Assess corrective actions received from supply base – follow-up and verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions and record all objective evidence to support closure;
•    Compile supplier quality performance history and forward to supply base and Magna Purchasing – prepare summaries for management review – conduct improvement meetings with supply base (highest PPM’s);
•    Maintain PPAP files for purchased components (initial and ongoing engineering changes) - interface with Magna Quality group in Novi;
•    Monitor and track the status of annual validations – review submissions;
•    Effective change implementation at supplier base.
•    Claim management of supplier non-conformance.
•    Identify and implement potentials for tool and process optimization with regard of quality and efficiency
•    All other duties as assigned.

•    Communicate and follow all emergency procedures to department staff;
•    Must participate in all company related safety programs;

•    Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards;
•    Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues;
•    Taking appropriate corrective action when substandard performance is observed;

•    Ensures the operation meets 5S expectations;
•    Recommend changes to work methods, safety measures and labor organization aligned with Mafact and MPS methodology;

Minimum Qualifications
•    University degree/college diploma in Engineering or the successful completion of career related courses; 
•    Certified Quality Engineer would be given preference;
•    Three to five years in the quality field in a technical capacity; 
•    Adept with problem solving methodologies; 
•    Knowledge of all Quality concepts and phases including:  PPAP, FMEA,  SPC, and control plans; 
•    Computer literate with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
•    Ability to work any shift schedule according to business needs;
•    Able to work overtime and travel with little notice.
•    Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and clearly articulate concepts, ideas, and other issues relating to quality engineering.
•    Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time.  Must be able to work independently.  
•    Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new suppliers, products and processes.  Must be able to initiate implementation of continuous improvement processes.
•    Excellent communication/negotiation skills with peers and suppliers in a positive, cooperative way and maintain productive and professional relationships with key functional areas
