Key Responsibilities

  • Leading technical discussions with customer and supplier for automotive LiDAR optical path topics (electrical design topics and mechanical design topics are excluded)
  • Firsthand defect analysis and distribution to other domains (mechanical or electrical design or software) if applicable
  • Assessment of the reliability of root cause analysis from supplier
  • Assessment of proposed technical changes / mitigation measures for defects on behalf of Magna in order to make sure that we fulfil the requirements
  • Support other project domains with LiDAR technology knowledge (e.g. Design Validation, Industrialization, Test tool development)
  • Follow the Magna Electronics Global Product Engineering Process (GPEP) procedures and processes; as well as utilizing required reporting templates and work instructions
  • Follow the Magna Electronics Product Development Process (MEPDP); including respect of the applicable engineering deliverable due dates
  • Follow all Magna Electronics policies and procedures as applicable

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Customer Specific Requirements as relevant
  • IATF 16949 knowledge
  • Automotive Mindset
  • Risk based thinking and risk analysis
  • Process and Project relevant Key Performance Indicators
  • Opto-electrical design experience including analog signal processing
  • Technical understanding of LiDAR technology in general
  • Technical understanding of LiDAR specific semiconductor components (e.g. laser diodes, VCSEL, APD, SPAD, SiPM) especially in terms of:
    • Performance defining technical parameters
    • Technical limitations
    • Influence of environmental parameter (e.g. temperature, ambient light)
    • Influence of aging
    • LiDAR system knowledge incl. technical understanding of:
    • Transmitter channel design including:
      - Tx pulse generation
      - Tx beam shaping / basic understanding of optical design
      - Deflection unit (MEMS technology)
    • Receiver channel design including:
      - Basic understanding of optical design
      - Ambient light influences
      - Range estimation algorithm
