Position Summary

The Materials & Logistics Shift Leader is responsible for assigning work and coordinating daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure the safety and efficiency of production operations. The Materials & Logistics Shift Leader supports and provides guidance to the Materials & Logistics department personnel.  This is a 3rd shift position from 10 pm to 6 am, Sunday through Thursday.  Benefits after 90 days, paid vacations, salaried plus 1.5 times overtime pay after 45 hours. $2500 sign on bonus available!

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide communication and reporting of the Department results in achieving department and divisional goals.
  • Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to the Materials & Logistics team members by assisting in solving day-to-day problems.
  •  Oversees all areas of material flow, shipping and receiving throughout the plant.
  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of logistics, ship schedules, traffic management and any customer concerns related to materials and logistics.
  • Communicates with automotive customers and suppliers on matters relating to supply of racks and concerns with packaging or shipping.
  • Directs and distributes the work for their area of responsibility.

Required Skills and Experience

  • College degree preferred with experience in business management including production material planning and scheduling and Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts, principles, and techniques; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in Materials/Logistics in the automotive industry.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience..
  • Experience in Material Flow Design in a Tier One automotive environment.
  • ERP systems experience and knowledge of Customer Portals.

  • Strong organizational, time management, planning, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment in order to meet customer requirements.
  • Will be exposed to some elements such as temperature and noise in the manufacturing plant.
