Position Summary
The Quality Technician supports Production, Engineering, and Quality by validating and improving company and department efficiency in a safe, high quality and productive manner, and is accountable for quality and business objectives to meet customer requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares, manages and administrates the use of inspection documentation check sheets etc. for the shop floor
Trains and communicates the requirements of the quality systems to production employees and trains in the use of part inspections and quality documentation, etc.
Conducts Layered Process Audits, Follows NCR process by ensuring procedures and processes have been completed, accurately and completely and where there have been issues they have been effectively resolved. Ensures that parts are tagged accordingly and placed in assigned areas., Communicates and ensures quality alerts are adhered to, participates in problem solving to ensure issues have been effectively resolved, administers fast response board by following the Quality Alert System, Reviews concerns and problems from previous shifts, Audits to ensure appropriate first-off procedures for all processes are followed., verifies all customer quality requirements on a daily basis, Actively participates in start of shift meetings, Ensures shift logs are accurate and up to date, Reviews past shift logs to ensure all open issues are tracked to resolution.
Education, Knowledge and Experience Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent and working towards completion of post-secondary education in Quality or Engineering, or commitment to fulfill Magna Quality training courses is preferred
- Minimum 6 months Q.A. and/or quality inspection and/or practical related manufacturing experience or relative Co-op experience
- Ability to understand, monitor and maintain adherence to the non-conforming/containment procedures/processes
- Understands and can demonstrate first/last off procedures
- Understands use of SPC applications and techniques to interpret data
- Basic knowledge of Metrology
- Knowledge and understanding of basic GD&T and tolerance requirements as seen on blue prints/drawings
- Understanding of auditing products/processes
Additional Information
Computer knowledge with Excel, Power Point and Word. Use of Quality measuring instruments, communication devices, GMAW and RSW familiarity, understanding of SPC relationship to assembly processes and familiarity with standard measurement, inspection and testing equipment in the inspection of sheet metal assembly processes.
Overtime may be required to meet program expectations. The QTI may be exposed to elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant or at customer or supplier facilities. Ability to obtain and retain a valid passport/Enhanced License is recommended.
