Role Summary

The Master Scheduler is responsible for reviewing customer requirements and preparing/ updating production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate production schedules based on Customer needs. OH Inventory and work center/manpower capacities.
  • Determine weekly labor requirements with input from production managers.
  • Plan and schedule for overtime.
  • Review and verify all production demands, changes weekly.
  • Complete all ECR and APQP-related activities
  • Provide coverage for Master Scheduler as required.
  • Review inventory levels of parts to ensure that they are within department/company goal.
  • Continuously improve scheduling system to support production requirements.
  • Define constraints and trouble shoot problem areas, implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate rework, new product launches, tool modification allotment time and engineering changes into the production schedule, ensuring no interruption in Customer delivery.
  • Manage service requirements ensuring stock is at 100% service level.
  • Manage inventory at outside paint processor if applicable.
  • Review daily and weekly Customer demands against quoted volumes, report out any major increases or decreases.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of year end physical inventory.
  • Ensure compliance to QMS (TS16949), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) (CTPAT) requirements.
  • Ensure, with the cooperation of other Cam-Slide departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.
  • Ensure enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements and Quality Management System (IATF 16949) without compromising either Cam-Slide or its Customers.
  • Follow department work instructions/procedures.
  • Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.
  • Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and/or certification.
  • May be required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature.
  • Audit daily performance of production against plan.
  • Produce and maintain weekly/monthly schedule attainment report.
  • Any other reasonable request by Management.
  • Must adhere to all MAFACT requirements
  • Must comply with all ISO 14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) systems and standards as it pertains to their work
  • Abide by all AODA and C-TPAT procedures that apply to their position


Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Post-Secondary Certification in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM – APICS), preferred
  • 5 years job-related experience, preferably in an automotive environment
  • Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
