About the Role

The Maintenance Area Leader is responsible for the coordination and assignment of all Divisional activities related to maintenance and welding operations and ensuring that all timing schedules and trades regulations are adhered to. The Maintenance Area Leader supports Leadership and Maintenance personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement for processes and productivity. This position carries direct and/or indirect leadership responsibility. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinates preventative and predictive maintenance with maintenance technical group and production planning.
  • Supports daily/weekly/monthly PM assignments, does follow-up and monitors PM schedule.
  • Conducts daily communication meetings with maintenance personnel.
  • Assists with repair, modification, and installation activities with other maintenance personnel.
  • Participates in manpower requirement planning, overtime scheduling, and assists with capacity planning to meet future objectives.
  • Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA. Follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Regularly monitors scoreboards to observe where issues are occurring, and that maintenance offers assistance and support to production team members; Responds to Andon based on the escalation process, as required.
  • Monitors and shares KPI results with employees to encourage continuous improvement results. KPI's are monitored through daily methods.  KPI results are reviewed regularly using a variety of means; i.e, pre-shift and department meetings, postings and one on ones.

Who we are looking for

A hands-on supervisor that works on the plant floor with the Weld Technicians.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing operation systems (ERP, MES, Preventive Maintenance, etc.).

  • Strong math skills with the ability to apply to costs and analyze data.

  •  Attention to detail and exceptional planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment and with a variable workload (flexible hours).

  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members and be able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact.

 

Your preferred qualifications

  • Completion of college/university degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field; or Certification of Qualification for Electrical/Millwright/Tool & Die; or equivalent work related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in automotive manufacturing operations with minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Highly knowledgeable in Robotics (Fanuc), PLC (Allen Bradley) and electrical.
  • Highly knowledgeable in mechanical and machining.
