Role Summary
Works independently to ensure level production schedules. Interprets and analyzes customer requests and capacity issues including availability of workforce, machines, time, and materials. Analyzes, develops, and monitors short-range customer sales and production forecasts. Develops all production schedules respective to job. Maintains production schedules and coordinates all necessary processes with corresponding departments. Measures actual progress based on customer requirements and reports significant deviations. Identifies, establishes, and maintains appropriate inventory levels. Monitors supplier delivery schedules to ensure material coverage in support of production schedules. Contacts suppliers and initiates corrective actions as required. Participates in continuous improvement processes and champions programs to improve cost, quality, and delivery. Performs other duties as required which may involve providing work direction and/or supervision to other staff. After hours and weekend work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
At level I, work is standard, of moderate difficulty, and performed under general supervision. Work involves independent decision making with guidance furnished on unusual matters. Assumes responsibility for level production in respective area. At level II, work is performed under minimal supervision and work direction. Functioning as a highly competent resource planner, work requires a higher degree of judgment and independent decision making involving more complex issues. Provides training, guidance, and work direction to level I resource planners and motivates team toward departmental goals and objectives. Assumes sole responsibility for level production and other job-related activities. Ensures level production schedules based on customer requirements, management goals and objectives, availability of materials, capacity of equipment, etc. Contends with an uneven customer demand and adjusts production schedules to secure a stable, consistent level. Assumes sole responsibility for authorizing/releasing all materials used in respective manufacturing area.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field including one-year experience in materials or related field; or equivalent. Experience in the automotive industry preferred. Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in order to perform job duties in an appropriate manner. Demonstrated high degree of problem-solving ability. Ability to independently analyze data and determine appropriate course of action. Demonstrated strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and changing priorities. Good understanding of production inventory control techniques and principles. Knowledge and experience with a formal manufacturing control system and Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts, principles, and techniques strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to utilize standard and specialized equipment used to perform job duties.
Level II (in addition to above requirements)
· Three years’ experience in related field including production scheduling, material pull systems, and JIT techniques; or equivalent. Must be certified in production inventory management. Demonstrated strong leadership skills to develop strategies and plan and assign appropriate resources. Demonstrated team facilitation skills to lead team members and motivate them towards departmental goals. Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills to perform job duties independently and make decisions which meet company goals and objectives.
