Role Summary

Works with Closures engineering departments to build one-off prototype parts with high level of craftsmanship and installs completed prototype assemblies into vehicles or vehicle bucks for customer presentations.

Key Responsibilities

•    Fabricate parts, tooling and fixtures from print or CAD data according to a given deadline
•    Report in a timely manner, all problems that occur (including shortages, mistakes, wrecks, lack of resource or personal problems)
•    Report labour hours accurately to the supervising personnel
•    Assist with the shipment of parts and tooling
•    Assist with the archiving of tooling and parts associated with completed projects
•    Work in a timely and efficient manner
•    Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
•    Follow all CTC rules and procedures
•    Perform all welding duties as required
•    Take actions required to resolve problem situations
•    Inspect parts and tooling and ensure work meets customer requirements
•    Follows Magna’s Code of Conduct & Ethics and related compliance policies
•    Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Minimum 3 years Certified Tool & Die Maker/Machinist or equivalent with good machining knowledge on all manual machining equipment
•    5-10 years Prototype making experience
•    Ability to work under tight timeframes
•    Proficient at fabricating prototype components and tooling to close tolerances from print or CAD data
•    Ability to read and understand blueprints and GD&T
•    Proficient with CAD software
•    Strong ability to weld various types of metals using MIG/TIG/OXYGEN ACETALENE
•    Working knowledge of machining processes, machining methodology, fixtures and tooling and attention to detail
•    Working knowledge of CNC Machine program/set-up/operate
