Closures Technical Centre, a division of Magna International Inc., is focused on the design, development and testing of Mechatronics products for the automotive industry.  We are currently looking for a Test Technologist for our Test Lab.  This position works with limited supervision to provide technical support to Test Technicians while performing testing in accordance with all ISO 17025 requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tests on customer-supplied products per specified test methods in accordance with all quality, environmental, timing requirements
  • Ensure the availability of required resources and monitor the status of on-going tests to ensure test programs are completed on time, according to specification and that personnel are following the appropriate procedures and work is performed efficiently
  • Provide guidance, support, and translate customer requirements to Test Technicians
  • Ensure the comprehensiveness and accuracy of test set-ups for conformance to the specification, and once complete, review set-ups with the customer
  • Review training requirements/matrices and initiate training as required to ensure that technicians are qualified to complete required tasks
  • Communicate progress, incidents and results of projects promptly to Program Leader
  • Audit tests in process to ensure data accuracy and traceability is maintained. Correct any outstanding issues
  • Ensure test incident analysis (ie. set-up, equipment verification) is performed prior to approving TIR’s
  • Review outgoing data to ensure it is logical and adheres to all ISO17025 standards
  • Remain proficient and up to date on all CTL equipment and testing capabilities
  • Provide technical support with test set-up and fixtures as per customer specifications and collect, document and maintain test results / observations to ISO 17025 requirements
  • Understand and interpret customer test specifications, ISO standards and supplied testing flows
  • Propose and develop new methods to aid test efficiency and satisfy complex, non-routine customer requirements
  • May be required to keep customers up to date on the progress of test by participating in conference calls or test status meetings with Lab Supervisor
  • Ensure adequate progression of assigned tests, 7 days/week through organizing and planning
  • Organize emergency tests when required
  • Review new fixtures for conformance to the test methods and highlight discrepancies to the Program Leader
  • Trouble shoot and repair mechanical/electrical fixture issues
  • Create datasheets (TAD’s) and job binders by interpreting test specifications and update as required
  • Work in compliance with all Quality standards as outlined in the CTL Quality Manual and propose continuous improvement ideas
  • Work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Support Test Lab Supervisor and Program Leaders with quoting process
  • Update project tracking documents on a daily basis
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum completion of a college diploma in engineering technology (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of work related experience, preferably as a Test Technician 
  • Proficient use of personal computer  
  • Good mechanical ability
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of PLC based control systems, pneumatics and basic measurement instrumentation
  • Familiar with and capable of using hand tools 
  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
