Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

•    Support process and maintenance activities consistent with departmental expectations and goals (See attached Performance Objectives).
•    Operate robotic equipment in accordance to the control plans established in order to satisfy the customer quality standards and delivery schedule.
•    Identify, communicate and document any difficulties relating to the product, process and/or quality system as per Norplas’ TS-16949 directives.
•    Initiate, recommend or provide solutions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to the product, process and/or quality system through designated channels.
•    Verify implementation and effectiveness of recommended solutions. Participate in control plan updates as per TS-16949 protocol.
•    Develop, implement, verify and document paint parameter settings for all application equipment to maintain the specified quality standards detailed in the control plans of all products.
•    Complete all maintenance as directed in the total productive maintenance plan to ensure optimum performance of the robotic equipment.
•    Perform all daily maintenance on electrostatic spray guns and related equipment to ensure optimum performance and paint utilization. Verify and calibrate as directed in the total productive maintenance plan to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of the painting process.
•    Maintain organized daily logs of all maintenance activities, process parameter data and verification records.
•    Participate in the development of robotic path motions and operating parameters for the introduction of new products and the continuous improvement of existing programs to optimize transfer efficiency within the guidelines of the control plans and customer quality                      standards.
•    Communicate and co-operate with paint suppliers on usage optimization, formulation compatibility, paint performance and quality issues.
•    Work with equipment suppliers to accurately collect application and performance data on new technology tested in the painting process.
•    Actively participate in continuous improvement teams as assigned by the Robot Technician Team Leader.
•    Train personnel as directed by Robot Technician Team Leader the in the implementation of the specified paint application methods and parameters in accordance to the control plans established.
•    Perform other duties as assigned by the Robot Technician Team Leader.
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Associate’s Degree in a related and technical field of study required.  Six years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.  Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.
•    Successful completion of the Robot Tech Level 2 aptitude test.
•    Must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Point Hue Test annually.
•    Must be computer literate on the Windows platform.
 

Additional Information

•    Previous automotive finishing and robotic experience required.
•    Mechanical and electrical experience with industrial control required.
•    Computer technology and programming an asset.
 

•    This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while
     standing or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours a day, the ability to lift up to15 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis, and the ability to perform work that is below the knees and above the
     shoulders on an occasional basis.  Ability to climb stairs is necessary. Ability to wear a respirator is necessary. Good vision at a close distance is required.
