Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Role Summary

Work within the Factory of the Future team to support Digitalization strategy in Seating North America group.
Support development and implementation of automation projects and digitalization initiatives in Seating divisions. 
Manufacturing Engineer lead to conduct Factory of the Future projects.
 

Key Responsibilities

•    Develop Statement of Work  for automation projects.
•    Lead automation projects from concept through implementation. Monitor suppliers and internal stakeholders during project development.
•    Conduct Proof of concept projects of automation projects to validate new technology and applications.
•    Support Advanced Manufacturing Lab.
•    Receive and provide training to manufacturing engineering teams related to digitalization.
•    Capture and validate best practices in automation and digitalization tools across Seating divisions.
•    Identify and select project priorities according to group strategy.
•    Support creation of technical guidelines for automation / digitalization projects.
•    Ensure Lean and MAFACT principles are in being followed going after automation projects. 
•    Perform additional duties as assigned. 
•    Act with honesty and integrity and make ethical business choices in accordance with Magna’s Compliance Policies and Procedures.
•    Travel required: 25-30% North America only. 
•    Supports Internal / External Audit efforts regarding ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949 Certification for remote site location (Group Office).
•    Supports the requirements as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (Quality Management System).

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrical or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience/Special Knowledge/Skills

•    Experience 7+ years in manufacturing / automation engineering.
•    Experience in creating drawings in AutoCAD
•    Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed
•    Knowledge of different project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile
•    Must be experienced in reading mechanical, system and layout drawings.
•    Understanding of Rockwell PLC’s programming, networking protocols and technologies
•    Experience in Robot programming basics (ABB, Yaskawa, Fanuc).
•    Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills required.
•    Demonstrated excellent leadership skills required

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Normal amount of sitting, standing, and walking. Average mobility to move around an office or plant environment.  Able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.  Able to peform moderate lifting and assembly work for occasional project development and installation tasks.
