Journeyman Tool and Die Maker
Role Summary
Job Summary:
The Press Tool and Die Maker builds, fabricates, and repairs tooling, fixtures, and other components as necessary to ensure the support of the plant production.
The Press Tool and Die Maker is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Services, maintains, and test new or changed dies.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on all tooling and familiar with SAP for work orders.
- Basic Formability training and circle grid analysis.
- Operates a variety of small machines, tools and equipment.
- Verifies conformance of machined or repaired dies to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances and alignments.
- Troubleshoots for problems during production.
- Modifies dies and tooling to conform to engineering changes.
- Tryout and launch of new die sets and tooling.
- Class A experience.
- Welding experience.
- Strong communications skills.
- Tandem, Progressive, Blanking, and Transfer Die experience.
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S practices.
- Operate overhead cranes.
- Perform other duties as required.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Education and/or Experience· Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · 4 Year apprentice trade certificate in Tool making
- Must be able to read blueprints and preferred CAD experience.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Manufacturing Environment:
- 80% Standing, and walking
- 20% Stooping, Kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
- Must be able to lift heavy loads (50 lbs)
