Lighting Product Engineer wanted in Plymouth, Michigan to develop automotive lamp products and apply design criteria in terms of lamp function (thermal, structure, venting/sealing, manufacturing, and assembly), lamp style / aesthetics, and lamp cost; Oversee the product development process for all Full Lamp Programs; Initiate and maintain engineering plans for programs; Develop and implement design concepts; Assess quality of CAD models; Provide support for the development of the product to assigned designers and lab technicians; Troubleshoot and recommend action for verification and validation fallout; Support discussions and presentations with customers, suppliers and other groups related to the development of the assigned product; Populate lessons learned and best practices database as it pertains to the products being developed; Support operations through early post-launch turbulence to ensure successful start to production; Support post-launch in terms of engineering changes and continuous improvement activity; Create and maintain DFMEA, DVP&R and Product Development open issues, to identify and track design success and failures; Apply principles of strength of materials and thermodynamics where necessary; Utilize internal tool kit of benchmarking, best practices, proof of concept planning and testing and manufacturing reviews to enhance reliability of products being designed; and Keep abreast of technological developments, advancements, and styling trends. Requires a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6 months of related experience as a Lighting Engineer, Product Engineer or Junior Product Engineer. The related experience must include: experience with developing automotive lamp products and applying design criteria in terms of lamp function (thermal, structural, venting/seating, manufacturing and assembly); assessing quality of CAD models and using DFMEA, DVP&R and Production development with regard to open issues.; M-F; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; $89,260.12.00 per year.
