Role Summary

Support the execution of the purchasing process at Autosystems America Inc for Magna Lighting NA.  Direct and coordinate all purchasing operations activities between suppliers and all areas of organization i.e. strategic purchasing, program managers, supplier quality development and/or other divisional designates.  

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct and control activities related to the purchasing operations function with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, while supporting strategic sourcing in selecting the optimal capable source to support programs in all areas.

Prepare all quote and detail data to analyze a make/buy divisional decision.

Responsible to process engineering changes request from supply base.

Maintain supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continually searching for and renegotiating cost savings.

Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices, following all safety policies and procedures and working towards correcting safety issues.

Lead customer request for quotes within a cross functional team environment.

Execute operational purchasing functions, e.g. request for information, request for quotes, purchase order issuance, material costs, budget tracking, and cost saving initiatives.

Remain in compliance with QMS policies and procedures.

Execute the day to day purchasing functions

Support the supplier selection process, contract management and supplier rating and development systems

Negotiate with strategic suppliers

Identify concerns and initiate corrective actions (through verification) relating to product, process, and quality systems.

Initiate preventative and continuous improvement actions relating to product, process, and quality systems.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead of the Purchasing Team as a function assigned to a specific program
  • Ensure supply chain systems, processes, procedures and tools are being practiced
  • Track program timing and report status on required deliverables

Education and Experience

  • University degree or college diploma required. 
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience.
  • Automotive purchasing experience considered an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories and processes. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Aptitude for working with numbers with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong mathematical / analytical skills.
  • Able to problem solve effectively.
