OVERVIEW: 


Supports day-to-day activities related to Staffing, Performance Management, Compensation and Benefits, Training and general Employee Relations to ensure improved quality of work life for employees in the Magna Lighting Group Office (including Lighting Group Engineering) in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee’s Charter. 


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Supports HR Planning and the development of departmental goals and objectives 
  • Assists Managers with work related issues and the interpretation and administration of company policies and procedures to ensure fair and consistent treatment 
  • Provides support to Lighting Group Office employees regarding inquiries and timely resolution of concerns 
  • Responsible for staffing activities including the preparation of job postings, maintenance of requisitions, conducting internal and external searches, interviewing candidates, making hiring recommendations to Managers, providing feedback to candidates, wage analysis and preparation of contracts and related paperwork 
  • Conducts formal company orientation, updating orientation material as required 
  • Ensures effective and accurate administration of employee records, including, but not limited to: organization charts, training, benefit and general employee information both in employee files and related employee database systems 
  • Assists in resolving performance issues and making recommendations for remedial/corrective action
  • Participates in the facilitation and development of the Employee Opinion Survey Action Plan 
  • Supports the Hotline process, conducting investigations as required 
  • Prepares month-end charts and reports for KPI measurables (as assigned) in a timely manner 
  • Prepares monthly benefit billing reports and forwards to Accounting for payment  
  • Prepares employee communication meeting presentations for Magna Lighting Group Office, presenting material as required 
  • Participates in the development and continual update of Human Resources policies, procedures, work instructions, databases and the Employee handbook in accordance with requirements 
  • Coordinates the Magna Lighting Group Office Social Committee and plans company social and wellness activities  
  • Develops in-house training programs in collaboration with the HR Manager and Subject Matter Experts • Monitors training metrics and effectiveness, and implements continuous improvement initiatives as required 
  • Coordinates the Co-op program and ensures the implementation of continuous improvement recommendations  
  • Participates in Accident/Incident investigation and reporting as required 
  • Responsible for Workers’ Compensation and non-work related claims management 
  • Supports the Joint Health and Safety Committee and the workplace inspections/hazard recognition program  
  • Delivers training or presentations to ensure adequate safety awareness at all levels 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all information obtained, written or verbal, within the Human Resources Department 
  • Maintains a professional customer service-oriented manner within the company and supports the corporate image as reflected in Human Resources departmental objectives and company policies 
  • Accountable to ensure zero non-conformance on periodic company, customer and regulatory audits
  • Leads HR programs and projects as assigned 
  • Provides support to Global HR projects 
  • Perform other duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • 5 or more years of related work experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent 
  • PHR preferred

  • Familiar with HRIS software; Workday experience a plus
