Role Summary

Purpose and Responsibility of the Position:

The supervisor has responsibility for all aspects of running the shift including but not limited to maintaining production standards to insure that the parts required are produced. Assure that Drive’s and Customer's quality standards are being met. Scheduling of employees on the line insuring that equipment is properly manned. Responsible for insuring that there is good communication on their shift and between shifts. Responsible for maintaining high housekeeping standards; Enforcement of plant safety rules and regulations. Ensuring that all employees are properly instructed in the work procedures for the lines they are assigned to. Interacts with Quality Assurance to assure only quality parts are produced and released for shipment.

The Press Production Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • It is the responsibility of every supervisor to ensure that safe and healthy work conditions are maintained and improved.
  • It is the responsibility of every supervisor to attend the monthly safety training and train all their associates each month on the related topic.
  • Supervisors must perform safety inspections, safety talks and be involved in accident investigations. They must correct unsafe acts or conditions, correct or comment on health and safety performance, and conduct performance appraisals ensuring worker’s safety performance.
  • Enforces all safety policies and standards. Works with other support departments to insure a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring good communication between Associates and Management, their assigned shifts, and between shifts.
  • Demonstrates area knowledge and experience and shares proficiencies with Associates and Team Leaders.
  • Must be able to operate and maintain all machinery and equipment in assigned area of responsible.
  • Responsible for the hiring/discipline/termination process on his/her shift in conjunction with Human Resources
  • Needs comprehensive understanding about process flow, equipment, technical specifications and production volume.
  • Ensures that all Team Leaders are instructed and trained on the lines they are responsible for.
  • Must schedule and assign associates in order to ensure customer demand.
  • Understands and adheres to customers and company quality standards and policies.
  • Works closely with Quality Assurance to assure quality parts are produced and released for shipment.
  • Recognizes Quality problems at earliest stages and corrects them.
  • Defines 5S standards for the work area and ensures these standards are being met.
  • Understands and applies all company problem solving techniques.
  • Performs all other Job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for timely performance reviews of the associates
  • Responsible for system strengthening in the department
  • Review customer feedback on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and initiate countermeasures and/or activities required to fulfill the customer’s expectations
  • Update press scoreboards weekly
  • Monitor equipment performance and initiate counter measures per key performance indicators (KPI). Communicate down to every associate the issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Technical Duties:

  • Must be able to operate and maintain all machinery and equipment in his/her assigned area of responsibility.
  • Plans and directs the utilization, maintenance and use of all machinery, equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results.
  • Responsible for maintaining, repairing and completing Engineering changes to all tooling when possible in house or coordinate all tooling work to be done outside of Drive.
  • Supervises employees in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Drive Handbook and Supervisor’s manual.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Drive.

Specific Shift Requirements:

  • Be ready to work 30 minutes prior to start of shift
  • Review schedule
  • Review work area for 5S and organization
  • Attend team meeting at start of shift
  • Audit process: Quarantine, Sorts, Manpower shortages/requirements, Material shortages/Blank shortages, and SAP reconcile and PSA cleanup
  • Shift meeting with manager
  • Payroll/E-time
  • Score Board review with team – Team leader, Maintenance, Automation

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Position Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

Required

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must have two (2) years of related experience and/or training
  • Prior metal working and stamping experience a plus
  • Currently in a team leader position.
  • 5 years as a licensed trade person or equivalent 5 years work related experience
  • Tool and Die Certificate or qualification
  • Willingness to complete requirements  in an agreed-upon time frame

 

Communication Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and members of management at levels of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Manufacturing Environment: 90% Standing and Walking 10% Lifting
  • Automated equipment and mechanical robotics.
  • Works near moving mechanical parts.
