About the Role

The Press Sr. Die Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting the press lines, maintaining production and following up on engineering and process changes.  Assists Management with line optimization. Must demonstrate experience in the planning and construction of medium and large sheet metal dies.  Must have a sophisticated understanding of automation, dies, equipment and metal technology as it relates to the automotive industry.  Experience with Class A stamping and large sheet metal dies a must.

Your Responsibilities

  • It is the responsibility of every Sr. Die Engineer to ensure that safe and healthy work conditions are maintained and improved.
  • Must be able to operate and maintain all machinery and equipment in assigned area of responsible.
  • Needs comprehensive understanding about process flow, equipment, technical specifications and production volume.
  • Full understanding and willing to learn and apply Drawability including High strength steels, Forming Limit Diagram & Stress Strain curve.
  • Lead Tool makers in Quality and Drawability improvement tryouts to improve Press shop KPIs- FTC, JPH & Uptime
  • Verify work orders for FTC & Tool Room feedback
  • Must schedule and assign associates in order to ensure customer demand.
  • Responsible for all in house tooling, coordinating all new tooling equipment plant wide.
  • Responsible for interim and long term problem solving involving, main press lines and dies, transfer presses and dies, press line automation, and transfer press automation.
  • Responsible for working with customers on all product improvements and product concerns.

Who we are looking for

EDUCATION: 2-year technical degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field

TECHNICAL TRAINING:  Completed Apprenticeship in sheet metal tool and die stamping & 5 years related work experience in a Class A metal stamping manufacturing environment.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker with 5 years minimum Class A Experience required.
  • New tool construction; proficient with production tooling troubleshooting
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Pay range: $90,000 - $115,000 annual salary
