General Responsibilities

 

  • Investigate and research new manufacturing technologies relevant to Lighting 
  • Provide manufacturing criteria to product design teams
  • Develop new manufacturing capabilities competitive within the Lighting industry
  • Develop and implement design standards, standardized components, and assemblies
  • Regular communication and interactions with product design teams (current and new business opportunities)
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications

 

  • Technical background with a design or engineering degree, B.S. preferred 
  • 5+ years’ of automotive lighting experience
  • Product design experience, NX or Catia preferred
  • Experience with multicolor lens molding, hardcoating, anti-fog coating, painting, metallization, plastics welding, assembly methods
  • Experience in an integrated Product Development Team
  • Familiarity with problem solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.)
  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans that achieve defined expectations within budgetary constraints 
  • Understanding of automotive lighting design principles
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Concept engineering, review and analysis or data from capability studies, print tolerancing and GD&T
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, creative, and innovative
  • Team oriented skill set
  • Full knowledge of engineering simulation tools and interpretation of simulation data
  • Demonstrates focus on meeting program commitments and enforcements of work plans where timing is not achieved

Physical Demands - Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor;  Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach.  Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
