General Responsibilities

  • Investigate and research new manufacturing technologies relevant to Lighting.
  • Lead the design and research of new manufacturing technologies relevant to Lighting and customer requirements.
  • Support customer technical meetings and presentations.
  • Support production launch activities for the responsible products.
  • Communicate design and program issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Deliver information in support of program dates in a timely manner.
  • Provide manufacturing criteria to product design teams.
  • Develop new manufacturing capabilities competitive within the Lighting industry.
  • Develop and implement design standards, standardized components, and assemblies.
  • Communication and interact regularly with product design teams on current and new business opportunities.
  • Create and execute project plans that achieve defined expectations within budgetary constraints.
  • All other duties, as assigned.


  • Technical background with a design or engineering degree, Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Five or more years of automotive lighting experience.
  • Product design experience, NX or Catia preferred.
  • Experience with multicolor lens molding, hard coating, anti-fog coating, painting, metallization, plastics welding, assembly methods.
  • Experience in an integrated Product Development Team.
  • Familiarity with problem solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.)
  • Understanding of automotive lighting design principles.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Concept engineering, review and analysis or data from capability studies, print tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, creative, and innovative.
  • Team oriented skill set.
  • Full knowledge of engineering simulation tools and interpretation of simulation data.

  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plans.

Physical Demands – Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor;  Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach.  Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
