General Responsibilities
- Design responsible for Electronic design for advanced lighting solutions in automotive applications (LED, OLED, miniLED, microLEDs and similar)
- Responsible for Test plan development to customer specifications (Chrysler, GM, Ford, VW Group, etc)
- Will lead or participate in R&D development activities within the organization
- Will prepare project funding requests for R&D activities
- Conducts or leads failure analysis and investigation of electronic failures or incidents
- Create detailed SORs for testing and outsourcing of electronic manufacturing
- Responsible to lead research, design and develop of electronics for new, existing programs in compliance with automotive standards and customer specifications from concept development to production launch
- Development of analog, digital circuitry, power electronics and embedded software for automotive exterior lighting
- Be the Main point of contact for electrical designs. Interface with cross-functional departments, suppliers and customer with respect to electronic product development, validations and manufacturing
- Project management of sourced electronic designs; manage third party activities
- Management of cost, and quality of electronic products
- Monitor and analyze any product failure and provide recommendations to Quality engineering
- Develop and test clinical prototypes to ensure design intent and specifications are satisfied
- Develop PCB layouts for production designs using appropriate PCB technologies
- Ensure layouts meet EMC requirements
- Conducting Schematic level circuit simulation for continuous improvement of designs
- Develop methods and practices to effectively manage data and, revision control for electrical and software designs
- Create electrical and EMC design validation test plans according to customer requirements and get customer approvals
- Deliver and Manage the required documentations i.e. BOM, 3D Cad, drawings and prototypes to product development team
- Create, support and realize benchmark activity linked to electrical designs
- Create and maintain, component and footprint libraries in Altium
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years electronics manufacturing and/or development background
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Must have detailed electronic component knowledge
- Must have knowledge in embedded electronics design
- Must have system understanding of HW/SW architectures
- Knowledge of Electronic manufacturing, quality and technical standards (IPC, ISO, etc.)
- Proficient with the use of electronic testing equipment
- Hands on Electronic ability
- Clear understanding of ESD design and prevention
- Experience designing for electromagnetic inference both radiated and conducted
- Prior exposure to Automotive OEM specifications/standards an asset
- Prior exposure to Automotive Lighting specifications/standards an asset
- Altium designer or similar PCB layout software
- Familiar with 3D CAD and 2D drawing software
- Microprocessor programming an asset

- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to manufacturing
- Strong Presentation skills
Physical Demands – Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach. Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
