Key Responsibilities
- Conduct CAE analyses such as modal and vibration analyses, thermal analysis, and other studies as required to support product development
- Perform necessary analysis support such as meshing and any other model preparation where outsourcing is required
- Assignments may include programs with new customers and the introduction to new technology
- Work closely with Product Development, New Technology, and Program Management Teams to ensure milestone attainment to customer expectations
- Provides robust design methods to minimize prior failure modes, and when necessary, provides technical leadership/direction to resolve issues
- Enforce design standards driving cost advantages to BOM standards
- Maintain lessons learned database and ensure Product Engineers and Designers follow
- Consults with engineering personnel/management to provide recommendations for the improvement of existing products and processes
- Maintains affiliations with appropriate professional and technical groups
- Supports critical design reviews- align product designs to Manufacturing capabilities and escalate if alignment to customer expectations is not present
- Conducts effective and efficient technical presentations which may involve design, engineering, internal/external customers, suppliers, etc.
- Assists Product Engineers with SOR’s, material selection, and test plans
- Commitment to Company goals and objectives
- Supportive of organization’s growth efforts
- Apply both analytical and fundamental engineering skills to model and analyze systems involving thermal simulations and vibration analyses
- Review simulation results and recommend corrective actions when appropriate
- Contributes in the development and implementation of new methods and analyses to minimize design changes required
- Demonstrates focus on meeting program commitments and enforcement of work plans where timing is not achieved

Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an automotive engineering or academic environment
- Understanding of thermal and mechanical testing as well as validation requirements for automotive exterior lighting
- Knowledge/experience of CAE software like Hyperworks, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, LS DYNA, StarCDCCM+, nCODE
- Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, DOE, DFM
- Knowledge and execution experience as it relates to APQP, PPAP, FMEA

Physical Demands
Physical Demands – Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach. Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
