Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for Wire Harness design for LED lighting in automotive applications
  • Responsible for test plan development to customer specifications (Chrysler, GM, Ford, etc.)
  • Conducts or leads failure analysis and investigation of harness failures or incidents
  • Create detailed SORs for testing and outsourcing of wire harness manufacturing
  • Responsible to lead research, design and develop of wire harness and connectors for new/existing programs in compliance with automotive standards and customer specifications from concept development to production launch
  • Development of wire harness diagram for automotive exterior lighting
  • Determine wiring gauge based upon power requirements
  • Develop connector strategy to be utilized across multiple vehicle lines
  • Serve as the main point of contact for wire harness designs
  • Interface with cross-functional departments, suppliers and customers with respect to electronic product development, validations and manufacturing
  • Project management of sourced wire harness designs
  • Management of cost and quality of wire harness products
  • Monitor and analyze any product failure – provide recommendations to Quality Engineering
  • Develop and test clinical prototypes to ensure design intent and specifications are satisfied
  • Ensure layouts meet EMC requirements
  • Conducting Schematic level circuit simulation for continuous improvement of designs
  • Develop methods and practices to effectively manage data and revision control for wire harness designs
  • Create wire harness design validation test plans according to customer requirements
  • Deliver and manage the required documentation (i.e. BOM, 3D CAD, drawings and prototypes) to product development team
  • Create, support and realize benchmark activity linked to electrical and wire harness designs
  • Create and maintain component and footprint libraries in Altium
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
  • Altium designer or similar PCB layout software experience
Personal Attributes/Special Skills
  • Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to multitask effectively, shift priorities and directions in a business setting
  • Proficient with the use of electronic testing equipment
  • Microprocessor programming is an asset
