Key Responsibilities
  • Generally assigned to sub components, sub-assemblies of a software systems 
  • Supports the development for the designated products including, but not limited to embedded software design, documentation, developing and testing C –code in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process and at the direction of senior team members
  • Incorporates customer requirements, regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with Magna Software Development Process or as assigned by senior members of the team
  • Analyzes products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools  
  • Creates engineering documentation for the following deliverables as outline in Magna Software Development Process: Product Specification, Software Requirement Specification, Software Development Plan, Software Design and Implement Document, DVP&R’s, 8D’s test reports, software problem reports, engineering changes and work orders
  • Writes compiles and integrates Software based on above requirements
  • Designs / programs / implements automatic test vectors if HW or SW in loop is implemented
  • Conducts software unit testing, static analysis, integration, validation, verification and release of software in support of Sr. Engineering personnel responsible for the program
  • Conducts code reviews with peers, attends and supports customer reviews
  • Consults and collaborates with personnel within the group to insure work product meets requirements
  • Effective communication skills and able to interact with the team and with the customer 
  • Maintains all appropriate documentation
  • Works with senior engineering personnel to support and drive best practices in software development process
  • Reviews and submits required change notices to ensure software quality meet design inputs
  • Understands and follows existing policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements
     
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering required
  • 0-2 years of direct applicable industry experience in embedded software design
  • Working knowledge of electrical hardware and electrical circuit theory as it relates to embedded controls for electro-optical systems
  • Ability to apply academic and other engineering principles in the development of automotive components and utilize math-based tools
  • Vehicle level bus communication protocol development experience (i.e. CAN, LIN) is a plus
  • Understand hardware embedded platforms such as Freescale, ST, NXP, Infineon, Microchip, Atmel, etc.
  • Entry level C, Assembly language, Code Warrior, Cosmic compilers, Matlab, Simulink, Labview, Lab windows, other software design/development/test tools
  • Able to quickly become familiar with standard software processes and industry requirements ASPICE, ISO, IEEE, CMMI, MISRA, AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Internship at an embedded software company a plus

  • Microprocessor programming is an asset
