About the Role

Magna Autosystems of America is looking for an Injection Molding Process Technician to help achieve our goal of world class manufacturing.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily activities of the technical aspects of the molding processes to ensure that a controlled process is being run and that overall safety practices are being followed.
  • Ensure that proper start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting procedures are being followed
  • Support Continuous Improvement by suggesting longer term processing solutions that will reduce costs by way of improved scrap rates and optimized efficiency
  • Ensure all processes are running to baseline and that any changes are properly evaluated and documented with the appropriate change form.
  • Develop baseline programs
  • Assist Engineering Group with trials and improvement opportunities
  • Improve the equipment and processes to meet current and future business, to include implementing and tracking projects to completion.
  • Preventative maintenance program to be monitored and updated as required
  • Make suggestions for Continuous Improvement
  • Implement and drive Autosystems TPS system
  • Write and Update Job Instructions as needed

Your preferred qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of molding processes
  • Aptitude for mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Ability to learn the fundamentals of process control and understand the importance of consistent application
  • Knowledge of Microsoft word/excel
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Strong knowledge of industrial processes and machinery
  • Ability to learn and comprehend computer language
  • Self-motivated, ability to take initiative and follow through to job completion
  • Ability to communicate technically with various departments
  • Ability to work flexible hours/shifts

Who we are looking for

  • Technical / Mechanical Diploma/ Degree or Certificate (Experience can be substituted for Education and Vice Versa).
  • 7-10 Years Injection Molding Experience required; multi-color/material experience an asset.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and maintaining injection molds an asset.
  • Must be able to take a new tool and establish a baseline including setting up parameters, robot programming and meeting quality standards
  • Must be able to troubleshoot issues with molded components and parts including minor tool maintenance
