Advanced Quality Engineer wanted in Plymouth, Michigan to facilitate all APQP activities to ensure quality of the event; Own and Lead key characteristic maps and control plans; Review and approve PFMEA as per PDP milestones; Develop and implement the necessary controls – process and product – to meet reliability and capability levels; Own and Lead all PPAP’s internal and external, complete and maintain SD-3893 in new program summaries; Own and Lead all Program /Product 8D’s pre-launch SPC, CMM and in process Gauge development- Design, Quote/Procurement, Validation a. Track development to meet program milestones b. Timely completion of dimensional capability, gauge certification and R&R signed approvals, dimensional studies on finished goods with road maps as required. c. Develop and monitor with the Product Engineer and Program Manager the overall dimensional plan for the program GD&T, # of measurement points, datum scheme, # of lamps to be measured at various stages of the program etc.; Effective launch transition to production; PDP and Business Protocol Adherence, PDP documents to be completed as per program milestones and evidence provided for electronic binder; Ensure Best Practices are followed throughout the Design Process; Owns and drives process capability – CP/CPK on all developing programs; Responsibility for timely completion of dimensional capability, gauge certification and R&R, dimensional studies of finished good; Timely closure of Engineering Changes Action Items; Ensure customer representation / resources are in place for launch readiness; Development and procurement of dimensional fixture and gauges; approving design and tracking readiness of gauges; Review component drawings and understand the application requirements for each component. Understand all performance and engineering specifications applied to the parts; Ensures that the program team has captured all program gate elements timely and effectively; Perform supplier visitations/audits as deemed necessary; Analyze, troubleshoot and follow up on internal & customer quality issues; Review and analysis of dimensional data from 1st piece layouts, gauge R&R and capability studies; Meet all commitments – confront and elevate issues timely; facilitate APQP and PPAP summaries for automotive lamps; approve PFMEA per PDP milestones; develop process and product controls; design test inspection methods to identify defects, define quality inspection and precision and accuracy programs related to products; work on developing DOE (Design of Experiments) of product equipment analysis; work on or lead root cause analysis and corrective actions; use SPC, CMM and in process gauge development, GD&T, CP/CPK, R&R dimensional status; perform internal and supplier audits; and, troubleshoot customer quality issues; perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Requires a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering and 24 months of experience as a Quality Engineer or Advanced Quality Engineer. The related experience must include facilitating APQP and PPAP summaries  for automotive lamps; approving PFMEA per PDP milestones; developing process and product controls; design test inspection methods to identify defects, define quality inspection and precision and accuracy programs related to products; working on developing DOE (Design of Experiments) of product equipment analysis; working on or leading root cause analysis and corrective actions; using SPC, CMM and in process gauge development, GD&T, CP/CPK, R&R dimensional status; performing internal and supplier audits; and troubleshooting customer quality issues. 40 hrs/wk, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; M-F, $90,480.00 per year.
