- Develop concepts for new RFQs to be submitted to customers
- Work closely with the Sales Team, Buyers, TIEs, Optics Team and CAD Designer to develop and implement solid design concepts to meet the requirements defined in customer contract
- Focus on the Proof of Concept planning with the CAD Designer, to understand and limit the risk of design solutions with respect to part performance and manufacturability
- Ensure the Engineering deliverables are progressing along the expected timeline, and propose action plans should problems arise
- Develop the BoM to be quoted as part of the RFQ process
- Develop the ED&D, along with Functional Manager, to be quoted as part of the RFQ process
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Control during the RFQ process as a main point of contact for design and geometric related issues
- Determine and communicate dimensional measurement plans to ensure molded parts meet design intent
- Provide proof of concept activity for quoting activities
- Perform benchmarking activities to help increase our knowledge of optical, mechanical and electrical strategies being utilized by competitors
- Work with TIEs to develop new practices based upon the benchmarking activities performed
- When possible (pending work load), can aid the VA/VE in identifying cost savings ideas
- Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering related field)
- 5+ years of automotive lighting experience
- Product design experience, NX or Catia preferred
- Experience with multicolor lens molding, hardcoating, anti-fog coating, painting, metallization, plastics welding, assembly methods
- Experience in an Integrated Product Development Team
- Experience with LED development, Electronic development and Optical development
- Familiarity with problem solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.…)
- Proven ability to create and execute project plans that achieve defined expectations within budgetary constraints
- Must understand Magna’s internal quoting process
- Experience with Benchmarking

Physical Demands – Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach. Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
