Role Summary

Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for continuous improvement related to their area, coordination and supervision of all internal and external shipping and receiving activities, a first and second shift of hourly team members and finished goods inventory storage control and labeling activities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the continuous improvement, coordination and supervision of external (non Autosystems - Belleville transfers), Shipping activities and Finished goods inventory storage control and labeling activities.
  • Manage all traffic costs, quotes, performance measures, and corrective action processes.
  • Develop and continuously improve all logistics inbound and outbound traffic routing.
  • Supervise all shipping activities. (develop work instructions, monitor performance, implement corrective actions)
  • Directly supervise, coach and train all Material Handling.
  • Conduct performance reviews as required.
  • Oversee disciplinary activities related to logistic team.
  • Manage all storage and layout plans (maintain & develop layout drawings, and related work instructions).
  • Manage all customs conformance (NAFTA certs, Liaison with all customer 3PL providers, document accuracy, legal conformance, costs, and all related work instructions).
  • Supervise and coordinate expediting activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School
  • Customs & NAFTA training
  • Specific INCO terms and Traffic courses/training.
  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment

Additional Information

  • Interpersonal skills, will be answering telephone, setting appointments and communicating with manufacturing managers, trucking companies, customs officials and brokers and other departmental managers which requires a professional demeanor. Must progressively contribute to interdependent project teams.
  • Cross Training - must be capable of supporting the absence of any supervisors under direct supervision.
  • Communication - ability to provide quick, concise, and accurate written and verbal communication to various internal departments and external vendors.
  • Software Skills - must have advanced proficiency in the effective use of Microsoft work, excel and lotus notes. Must be very proficient (trainer level) in the use of Customs software. Must be capable of performing key shipping functions in Trans4m. Capability in the use of simple drawing software like MS Visio is an asset.
  • Project Management - some basic project management skills are required to manage continuous improvement projects related to logistics and internal material flow.
  • Must understand, and practice materials management fundamentals.
  • CTPAT security - ensure driver sign in and out and driver ID validation.
