Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the electronics project development team in automotive exterior lighting.
  • Lead research, design and develop of physical electrical hardware for new designs in compliance with automotive standards and customer specifications from concept development to production launch.
  • Create electronic system block diagrams and circuit topologies with the support of the EE Engineers and according customers’ requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for electrical designs and interface with cross functional departments, suppliers, and customers with respect to electronic product development, validations and manufacturing.
  • Support Product, Optical, and Manufacturing Engineers to establish lamp level electrical requirements, Optical Engineers to establish lamp level optical source requirements.
  • Support purchasing and sales on new program content for costing.
  • Review customer electrical interface documentation.
  • Coordinate proof of concept testing with electrical techs, and electrical environmental testing as required by the OEMs.
  • Review engineering changes for past and new programs when required by the electrical team.
  • Develop and review SOR for establishing manufacturing requires for component level electronics assemblies.
  • Ensure electrical assembly costs are with in costing in quote model.
  • Work closely with product development, new technology and program management teams to ensure milestone attainment to customer expectations.
  • Align design strategies with new technology and VA/VE initiatives, which are in process.
  • Capture and document customer specification review and stakeholder requirements.
  • Conduct test plan reviews with EE and validation tech (VW, FCA, Chrysler, GM, Ford, etc.)
  • Conduct and lead failure analysis and investigation of electronic failures or incidents.
  • Negotiate technical issues with customers and suppliers.
  • Assist with project management of sourced electronic designs and oversee outsourced electronic designs.
  • Management of cost models of electronic products.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
     

Key Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least ten years of electronics manufacturing and/or development background.
  • Detailed electronic component knowledge.
  • Knowledge of electronic manufacturing, quality and technical standards (IPC, ISO, etc.)
  • Able to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of ESD design and prevention.
  • Prior exposure to Automotive OEM specifications/standards, preferred.
  • Prior exposure to Automotive Lighting specifications/standards, preferred.
  • Familiar with Altium designer or similar PCB layout software.
  • Familiar with 3D CAD and 2D drawing software.
  • Able to read electrical schematics and understand PCB layout.
  • Serve as a positive and effective team member.
  • Able to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision.
  • Understands product manufacturing and costing processes
  • Able to multi-task and organize workload for effective implementation.

  • Proficient in dimensional systems and analysis.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to manufacturing.

Physical Demands

 

Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach. Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
