Role Summary

Performs IT Administration and support of the Engineering and Test Lab computer environment. Maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades various components of the underlying IT computer systems belonging to Engineering and Test Lab. Provides Help desk user support for all PC applications and performs related IT tasks for above areas. Performs work and responsibilities related to IT security. Maintains a high level of systems and computers Compliance by performing required tasks and taking appropriate measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs user support (help-desk) related activities; observes and enforces IT policies and guidelines
  • Performs Active Directory Administration for the COE Organizations Unit
  • Install, maintain and upgrade all Windows applications software to the appropriate levels, as per internal or external customer requirements
  • Maintains and upgrades the hardware and Operating Systems for desktops, laptops, workstations, servers
  • Support Smartphones, and Magna’s Enterprise Mobility Management solution
  • Active participation in IT Projects related to the Infrastructure or PC client hardware replacements 
  • Performs tasks related to Magna Security controls – checklists; updates documentation and procedures whenever necessary
  • Works to ensure IT Security compliance as per MGIT security policies and Information Governance Guidelines
  • Performs work to remediate IT non-compliant issues and maintain the compliance level required by Division’s target  
  • Provides technical support assistance and effectively participates in the development of policies and procedures for the IT department
  • Participates in Cross Functional Teams and interacts with IT personnel from other MGIT and other IT Divisions
  • Participates in internal audits preparing data and documentation for the Auditors
  • Participate and learn troubleshooting of network and LAN connectivity - when necessary
  • Performs Administration of certain Windows Engineering servers 
  • Maintains and performs support for MS Office suite including MS Outlook, O365, OneDrive, etc.
  • Supports activities related to archiving obsolete data and data retrieval from archive
  • Set up printers and plotters, user accounts, passwords, files permissions and maintain data integrity 
  • Tests and evaluates hardware and software for future solutions implementations; participate to perform certain tasks for Disaster Recovery Procedures
  • Observe and support IT security procedures in order to maintain and secure company proprietary data; protect Organization’s IP
  • Identify and alert about potential security risks that could affect company assets
  • Maintains existent,  and update or develop documentation for the IT environment and participate to DR procedures 
  • Initiates request for purchase orders for new and replacement hardware and software maintenance renewals
  • Properly maintaining company assets (ie: laptops, desktops, cell phones)
  • Attend to urgent situations, such as power emergencies, major failures or IT security related issues or incidents
  • Maintains safety and housekeeping at all times
  • Maintain and Display a professional demeanor at all time
  • Complete tasks and assignments as deemed necessary by management
  • Follows Magna’s Code of Conduct & Ethics and related compliance policies
  • Perform other duties as required

  • In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act (Newmarket) or Occupational Safety & Health Act (Troy)
     

Qualifications & Skills

  • On-time Delivery of Assignments
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge
  • 1-3 years of experience with All Windows Operating system, Active Directory, VMware, LAN 
  • Excellent Customer Skills are required with a high professional conduct; ability to work well under time constraints with high quality of work
  • Exposure to NetApp enterprise storage technology
  • Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems
  • Good knowledge of MS Active Directory;
  • Familiar with Enterprise AntiVirus technology: Trend-micro preferred
  • Familiar with Smartphones: Android, Apple, Blackberry, BES
  • Familiar with Dell and HP server equipment
  • Linux / UNIX knowledge is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written
  • Exposure to the following software applications an asset:  Enovia, Catia, NX, Lucidshape, Speos, Altium, Abaqus, HyperWorks, ALM (DOORS NG)
