Role Summary

Radar System Architect is responsible for the architectural design of automotive radar system for different applications, such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Emergency Warning and Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical communications with OEMs and suppliers on radar requirements and architectural design topics
  • Design of radar product architectures based on Manga Electronics radar technology roadmaps
  • Evaluate customer specifications and translate them into a radar platform architecture
  • Create design specifications with disciplinary details of radar product components or sub-systems including antenna and HF-frontend, electronics, software, signal processing algorithms, mechanics, etc.
  • Review the design with all stakeholders including customer, product management and project lead
  • Communicate the design specification to development team and drive the product realization based on feedbacks from implementation and testing
  • Support customer presentation and escalation
  • Evaluating internal and external engineering design change requests
  • Firsthand defect analysis
  • Follow the Magna Electronics Global Product Engineering Process (ME-GPEP) and Magna Electronics Product Development Process (ME-PDP)

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or equivalent technical field
  • Minimum 5-year experience in radar development, preferably in automotive industry
  • Willing to learn and work with new technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of radar product including:
  1. Different radar techniques (PMCW, FMCW, MIMO, etc.)
  2. Antenna design
  3. Radar data processing
  4. Link budget calculations
  5. Frequency regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of automotive technologies such as CAN, FlexRay, Automotive-Ethernet, AUTOSAR, etc.
  • Automotive SPICE or CMMI
  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PTC Integrity, Enterprise Architect, DOORS, Rhapsody, MATLAB-Simulink and signal processing toolbox
  • Basic knowledge of SAP
  • Comprehensive knowledge of English (speak & write)
  • For positions in non-English speaking countries: Advanced knowledge (verbal & written) of local language required
