Role Summary

LiDAR System Architect is responsible for the architectural design of automotive LiDAR system and LiDAR optical path technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading technical discussions with customer and supplier for automotive LiDAR optical path topics
  • Conduct technical investigation, derive technical solutions, and lead decisions throughout the complete product development of automotive LiDAR optical path topics
  • Create technical specifications and other technical work products for application projects and core product development
  • Perform reliability assessment of customer deliverables and monitor root cause analysis from supplier regarding technical issues and defects
  • Firsthand defect analysis and distribution to other domains (mechanical or electrical design or software) if applicable
  • Assessment of proposed technical changes / mitigation measures for defects on behalf of Magna to fulfil the requirements
  • Support other project domains with LiDAR technology knowledge (e.g., Design Validation, Industrialization, Test tool development)
  • Follow the Magna Electronics Global Product Engineering Process (GPEP) procedures and processes; as well as utilizing required reporting templates and work instructions
  • Follow the Magna Electronics Product Development Process (MEPDP), including respect of the applicable engineering deliverable due dates
  • Follow all Magna Electronics policies and procedures as applicable

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or equivalent technical field
  • Minimum 5-year experience in Lidar development, preferably in automotive industry
  • Willing to learn and work with new technologies
  • Customer Specific Requirements as relevant
  • IATF 16949 knowledge
  • Automotive Mindset
  • Risk based thinking and risk analysis
  • Process and Project relevant Key Performance Indicators
  • Opto-electrical design experience including analog signal processing
  • Technical understanding of LiDAR technology in general
  • Technical understanding of LiDAR specific semiconductor components (e.g., laser diodes, VCSEL, APD, SPAD, SiPM)
  • LiDAR system knowledge incl. technical understanding
  • Advanced knowledge of automotive technologies such as CAN, FlexRay, Automotive-Ethernet, AUTOSAR, etc.
  • Automotive SPICE or CMMI
  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PTC Integrity, Enterprise Architect, DOORS, Rhapsody, MATLAB-Simulink and signal processing toolbox
  • Comprehensive knowledge of English (speak & write)
  • For positions in non-English speaking countries: Advanced knowledge (verbal & written) of local language required
