Role Summary

Under the direction of the quality manager, the CMM Operator responsible to operate the coordinate measuring machines and to carry out a wide variety of duties in respect to maintaining the accuracy of our “master” measuring tools with a positive cooperative attitude supporting both the department and departmental leadership. CMM operators are expected to facilitate solutions and possess excellent listening, communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects MEVS Expectations and MEVS’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter
  • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and MEVS rules and regulations
  • Follow environmental protocol as prescribed by the Environmental Management System (EMS)

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities
  • Take initiative to follow through on completion of tasks/projects
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to achieve results
  • Operate CMMs to ensure accuracy for correlations and other activities
  • Operate overhead cranes
  • Ensure all gauges and fixtures are maintained and certified
  • Perform capability / reliability studies
  • Support all special projects (i.e. SMR’s, Prototype, Repair)
  • Provide support to Perceptron Technicians to resolve dimensional and gauge related issues
  • Provide support to all departments to resolve dimensional related issues
  • Perform other duties as designated

Additional Information

The CMM Operator works in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending. Able to work shift work. Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of LK
  • Exposure to Quality Assurance systems and requirements an asset
