POSITION SUMMARY:                                                                                                                

 

As a senior member of the Magna Powertrain (MPT) Sales Leadership Team, the Sr. Director of Sales is responsible for overall business performance and strategy development for China customers.  Partners with other senior leaders to ensure effective coordination and relationships with all disciplines of the organization for a special customer group.  Develops, coordinates and communicates strategies, objectives, policies and programs for all sales activities.  Drives global efforts to identify and actively pursue customers, technology and products.  Guides communication worldwide to establish common strategies and goals and establish best practices for specific customer groups.

Develop Global Customer Strategy 
– Working with members of the global sales team, the cross functions and product managers within each product group, drives the creation and implementation of an aligned sales customer strategy to increase market share and profitability in each MPT product group.

Managing Activities of the Sales Organization – Provide leadership to insure the achievement of all customer sales revenue targets and profitability.  Coordinates communication and activities between all sales locations and personnel toward accomplishing organizational goals.  Clearly and quickly works through the complexity of key issues, problems, and opportunities to affect action.

Lead the Department – Attract, develop and retain all levels of talent to ensure that people with the right skills and motivation to meet business needs are in the right place at the right time.

MANAGERIAL / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

Directly leads a group of directors and support staff. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with Magna’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  1. A minimum Bachelors Degree required with a post graduate degree highly preferred.   Strong automotive sales background with minimum 10 years of both domestic and international sales experience with proven track record in developing global sales strategies and building a world-class sales organization for specific customer groups.
  2. Must have demonstrated success in satisfying OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in a complex, competitive automotive market.  Must welcome responsibility, challenge and decision-making.   Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions.
  3. Strong experience involving joint ventures management team and grow sales target in JV environment.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal, group presentation, and team facilitation skills.
  5. Strong analytical skills and computer skills (MS Office Suite); experience working with ERP system (SAP) preferred.
