Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

Plant accounting functions relating to costing of labor, inventory, accounts payable & payroll; month end and year end functions.

  • Supervision of Financial Accounting Functions
  • Assist with Costing Functions
  • Write month end journal entries and accruals
  • Performs month end accounting functions including balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Backup Hourly & Management Payroll in ADP
  • Backup 401k contributions and match in The Principal
  • Balance bank reconciliations & support intercompany accounts
  • Complete quarterly vendor reconciliations
  • Manage vendor chargeback process & cost of quality reporting
  • Analyze and evaluate plant operating expenses
  • Assist with year end closing
  • Complete monthly performance package
  • Assist in budge and fo9recasting
  • Complies with Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and Material Management System requirements.
  • Assure compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley 404 legislation.
  • Ensures that the principles of the Magna Employee Charter, the Corporate Constitution and Operational Principles are practiced, supported, and reinforced.
  • Ensure all associates have a safe environment in that all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
  • Enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures consistently, and respond to and investigate all reports of accidents or injuries in a timely manner.
  • Thoroughly train new associates, correct or commend associate's health and safety performance, and conduct adequate performance appraisals by evaluating an associate's safety performance.
  • Display a positive attitude towards safety and lead by example that will result in a safe and healthful workplace for all who work at Louisville Seating Systems.
  • Ensures that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to in accordance to the Magna Employee Charter and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Administers and ensures compliance with the Quality and Material Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals. 
  • Code & Review Journal Entries & Account Recs
  • Approve invoices, payment runs, & purchase requisitions
  • Prepare analysis as required
  • Train and backup accounting staff as required.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

A Bachelors degree in Business or Accounting with a minimum of five years accounting experience and two years supervisory experience in automotive or manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required. Must be experienced with computerized accounting systems as well as MS Office and Excel.

Excellent verbal and written skills along with the ability to effectively present information to management, employees, and corporate personnel are essential.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

Additional Information

Occasional overnight travel is required. Must be able to interface with all departments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
