Role Summary

The Manufacturing Support Auditor is responsible for assisting and supporting the manufacturing process and the manufacturing personnel by ensuring that proper production, inspection, gaging, containment, and certification processes are followed, with the goal of preventing the escape of nonconforming parts from reaching the next operation or escaping to the customer.   The Manufacturing Support Auditor will ensure conformity to blueprint, customer specific, and internal procedures, as well as IATF 16949:2016 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Performs audits at both locations to verify that proper work cell organization and documentation (Standardized Work Instructions [SWI], Job Element Sheet [JES], and In-Process Inspection Report [IIR]) is present and current. 
  2. Performs product, dock, and incoming component receiving inspection audits.
  3. Performs training to manufacturing operators utilizing the Training Within Industry (TWI) method for inspection activities required by the JES.
  4. Observes and audits operators for correctly following SWI and JES.  If the operator(s) are not, takes the step to manage the situation by immediately notifying supervision.  Supports and participates in operator re-training if necessary and as requested by the supervisor.
  5. Cleans and maintains gages to keep them in good working order.
  6. Verifies that operators are using gages correctly, and if not, teaches the operator on the correct use of the gage.  In such instances, verifies that no nonconforming parts were passed due to the incorrect operation of the gages.
  7. Verifies that operators are filling out all the required information on the IIR’s at each operation.
  8. Facilitates the document control of completed IIR’s and other work cell inspection records by removing from the work cell, scanning, and digitally storing these documents for archival.
  9. Becomes very familiar with all part Customer Interface Characteristics (CIC’s) and ensures that manufacturing operators are familiar with them as well.  Audits the operators for knowledge and trains/re-trains the operator on CIC’s as necessary.
  10. Creates and publicizes Quality Alerts to address any nonconforming parts or a non-standard operations observed.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

High School/GED.  Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience\training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work in a team environment and has a team oriented work approach. Excellent interpersonal and employee relations skills.  TWI training.  Organizational skills, proactive and demonstrates creativity, initiative and ability to perform structured problem solving.  Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications or other related documents.  Self-starter who is positive and professional.  Can work in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment. Able to work hours require to support the manufacturing schedule as set forth by the manufacturing department. Ability to motivate manufacturing employees to volunteer any issues or potential issues in production cells.
