Role Summary

Under the guidance of a qualified tool & die maker, the apprentice is responsible for assisting with and/or carrying out repair/maintenance/construction of tools/fixtures/gauges/dies. The apprentice is responsible for adhering to all legislated regulations and training requirements as outlined in their signed contract.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Repairs/maintains/constructs tools/fixtures/gauges/dies as assigned
  2. Ensures appropriate fluid levels maintained/ordered for equipment/machinery
  3. Fills out time-tickets and log books as required
  4. Attends, and completes with a passing grade, the government required education
  5. Follow plant lockout procedure.
  6. Uses proper safety equipment on aerial work platforms or above 9 feet.
  7. Assist other maintenance trades as required.
  8. Uses Maintenance Reliability Manager Maintenance Program.
  9. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.
  10. Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environmental programs (egg. ISO/IATF-16949, ISO14001)...

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. A minimum of 5000 hours completed 
  2. Level 2 schooling completed at minimum
  3. Skill gained by experience 
  4. Graduate or graduating from a Tool and Die post secondary program
  5. Industrial experience considered an asset, especially the ability to function effectively in a team environment
