Role Summary

The Junior Buyer will manage the entire commercial relationship with suppliers for indirect categories or projects  assigned. This includes but not limited to, supplier qualification, terms and conditions execution, negotiate pricing, stakeholder and supplier relationship management.  This candidate will also need to assist with processing spot buys orders for the European technical centers and manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate agreements and contracts by analyzing supplier quotations and terms, achieve the best global commercial condition.
  • Work intimately with the Stakeholders to help steer the selection to preferred suppliers and utilize this leverage to obtain the most competitive pricing.
  • Locate new sources of supply and establish new suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations / supplier assessments.
  • Facilitate cross-functional activities such as supplier business review meetings, audits, and cost saving initiatives.
  • Implement strategies and solutions to improve cost levels, stable sources of supply, high quality of services and other governing factors related to the Purchasing Department and adjacent areas.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities that may include developing programs to improve supplier performance.
  • Track category’s key performance indicators, such as savings and activities to achieve key objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and suppliers to identify cost saving opportunities and facilitate for timely adoption.
  • Resolve escalation issues and find resolution including contract compliance failures.
  • Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities including commodity specific trends, technology, opportunities and challenges.
  • Implement and ensure compliance of indirect policies and procedures, including IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate the strategic source selection and approval process, obtain approval and maintain records.
  • Interface with the Legal Department to review agreements and obtain approval or recommendation prior to execution of the agreements.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.  Ensure that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Comply with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS).
  • First experience in Purchasing and/or negotiations is desired.
  • Knowledge in regional country’s contract and/or Labour law is desired.


Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business administration – Required
  • Master’s degree in business or engineering - Desired
  • Business Finance training - Desired
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
  • First experience with SAP desired.
  • German
  • English 
  • Travel (domestic and international) may be needed.
