Role Summary

A Lead Engineer – SIL (Software in the Loop) is responsible for providing technical leadership for the development of software simulations (SIL) for specific application or base functions or a set of functions (depending on function complexity and content). This includes the cross-functional coordination of defined work packages of the V-Model (requirements, design, implementation, testing) and delivery of the function(s) align with ECU releases until the SOP. The Lead Engineer – SIL ensure that projects are completed to specification, within an established time frame and budget, while following the applicable development process. The Lead Engineer – SIL works with internal and external stakeholders including direct customer communication, to fulfil the customer milestones and the feature release plan. In the project organization, the Functions SIL Lead reports to SW Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Is the technical lead for SIL development related concerns and offers expertise to the development team with support from Program Management, TPL, System Lead, HW Lead, SW Lead, SW & System Test Manager as well as Functions Performance Test Manager
  • Manages and plans all work packages of the development cycle for SIL development (requirements, design, implementation) and coordinates Software and System Test in collaboration with the SW and System Test Managers
  • Supervises and/or provides work direction to the development team members and external partners (supplier management) by assigning and tracking the tasks on a regular basis
  • Ensures delivery of the committed SIL performance within the planned time and allocated resources
  • Holds regular development team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges
  • Coordinates and is accountable for the analysis and decomposition of SIL related requirements and standards
  • Analyses and understands customer requirements using requirements management tools and processes in acc. with defined RASIC chart
  • Manages and negotiates customer requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations
  • Is responsible for the decomposition of customer requirements directly to SW (SRS) level acc. to agreed strategy from Requirements Manager
  • Ensures that development activities are compliant to ME-GPEP development process and quality level as well as to Functional Safety
  • Analyzes test results and data to ascertain maturity meets requirements
  • Is responsible for the early warning of critical issues, planning and target deviations within the project and beyond; definition and execution of counter measures accordingly with support from TPL and/or PM
  • Identifies strategic changes required to improve processes, efficiency, and quality
  • Drives structured problem-solving processes
  • Supports line managers to develop and suggest reuse strategy
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts
  • Participates in customer design reviews
  • Conduct cross functional requirements reviews

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable relevant experience related technical field (like Software Development) required
  • Knowledge in the software development (like C and C++) and execution of automotive electronics products
  • Knowledge in software simulation tools (like ADTF, ROS, etc.) and automotive software architectures (like AutoSAR)
  • Experience in working in a continuous integration (CI) and automated testing environment
  • Professional Project Management Certification from accredited intuition preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods
  • Good organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising project teams
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • Managerial experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
