Role Summary

The Senior Manager of Functions Performance Test (FPT) EU leads the Function Performance Test team in Europe through various product development and production cycles delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions internally and to our customer. The Senior Manager has responsibility for people management (development, coaching) and technical leadership for those projects in his/her domain

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of the team in the development of all relevant deliverables in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations
  • Acts as primary management interface and escalation for all issues related to FPT
  • Leads the planning, monitoring, and reporting of team members
  • Develops and defines strategy and collaboration model for all related sites, optimizes relation with strategic partners and reduces dependencies on external contractors in case of core competences
  • Supports critical project phases and resolves technical problems 
  • Ensures proper engineering quote response is provided for new projects and engineering changes. As necessary, supports customer technical reviews
  • Provides guidance and direction on personal development (mentoring) of team members and responsible for hiring process of new team members
  • Ensures all necessary project engineering documentation and data is generated and maintained to ensure traceability and compliance to company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504)
  • Tracks key process indicators as defined in KPI/Balanced Scorecards
  • Represents the FPT EU organization by supporting relevant reviews (escalation, gates, budget etc.)
  • Works with other Line Managers to improve development processes (in compliance with ASPICE and ISO26262), including creation of templates, guidelines as well as the definition of best practices and lessons learned
  • Follows safe work procedures; Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); Uses workplace tools and equipment as instructed; Reports workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible following event.
  • Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS)
  • Optimizes relation with strategic partners and reduces dependencies on external contractors in case of core competences
  • Leads best practices and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. agile, test-driven development, CI, automation, HIL/SIL, data analytics etc.)

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • (Master’s preferred)
  • 15 years’ relevant experience regarding the Responsibility / Activities (listed above) in serial development.

Technical

  • Automotive SPICE or CMMI
  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262)

Computer

  • Knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
  • Knowledge of version control and configuration management tools
  • Knowledge of PTC Integrity, IBM DOORS
  • Experience with SAP

Language

  • Comprehensive knowledge of English (speak & write)
  • For positions in non-English speaking countries:
  • Advanced knowledge (verbal &written) of local language required

Abilities

  • Organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many work items and/or issues at once
  • Working knowledge in structured engineering approach
  • Working knowledge of configuration management (preferably PTC/MKS), project monitoring and control techniques
  • Travel (domestic and international) may be needed
