About the Role

 

The Senior Specialist of External Communications Europe is a highly skilled and experienced communications professional that will report to the Director External Communications Europe and work closely with the Global Corporate Communications team, executives, and marketing communications in our product groups. In this role, this individual will be responsible for helping drive effective communication strategies and initiatives to enhance Magna’s reputation, positioning, and visibility. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of PR trends, measurement, excellent project management skills, and experience working with the media.

Your Responsibilities

 

  • Execute external / PR communication strategies that align with the organization´s goals and objectives - this will include developing messaging, identifying target audiences, and selecting appropriate communication methods.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to secure positive media coverage and enhance the company´s reputation.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities and potential risks and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including executives, marketing, and subject matter experts, to gather information and develop compelling content for external communications. 
  • Contribute to the company´s social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engaging content that resonates with the target audience.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of external events such press conference, media roundtables and community engagement initiatives. 
  • Work with internal content creators for development of engaging content, including press releases, blogs and presentations.
  • Position technical articles in industry-specific publications to showcase our expertise.
  • Coordinate crisis communication in alignment with the corporate communication team - this could include developing crisis communication plans, coordinating with relevant departments, and providing timely and accurate information. 
  • Lead monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of communication initiatives, using metrics and feedback to continuously improve. 

Who we are looking for

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications/Public Relations, Marketing, or related field of study
  • Three to five year’s experience in a communications position / ideally in the automotive industry

  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills and strong planning and organizational skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and data discreetly
  • Ability to work in a global team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in German and English
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Domestic and international business travels required to a certain extend
