Role Summary

The Team Lead – Program Quality (TL-PQ)  is a high-level individual contributor responsible for engineering quality activities for ADAS development projects and serial production support. In addition to this, the TL-PQ will perform quality management system activities to ensure the IATF 16949 and ASPICE compliance of the ADAS R&D Organization North America. The TL-PQ will report to the Senior Manager – Engineering Quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of work products and processes during the development phases of product development by identification of risks to the customer and implementation of countermeasures to meet deliverable requirements at customer required maturity level
  • Ensures Quality Work Products are created and maintained by the Quality Engineers for product development incl. activities, responsibilities, escalation strategy
  • Works closely with Line Management and Program Management regarding Quality Issues
  • Supports analysis of quality related customer specific requirements during all project phases in conjunction with Quality Engineer
  • Supports the project team in selecting an adequate level of processes, Standards, and procedures (Tailoring) in line with internal requirements and customer requirements
  • Ensure Work Product Reviews and Process Reviews are conducted for the Projects by the Quality Engineer
  • Perform Risk Analysis along with the Quality Engineer and ensure implementation of corrective actions
  • Ensure accurate communication of risk and countermeasure status for management through KPIs
  • Transparency of process and product quality from internal and external customer point of view
  • Record evidence of quality assurance and risk reduction activities through Status Reports
  • Assists the team with resolution on non-conformances
  • Assists engineering team in completing phase and gate review checklists for a project
  • Participates in Technical Design Reviews
  • Maintain interface to Quality Engineer and Quality Management to establish continuous improvement of Flawless Launch Plan

Additional Information

  • Ensure Development Risks are mitigated and Lessons Learned are documented
  • Supports the project team with preparation and commencing of ASPICE audits
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.  Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations
  • Follows safe work procedures; Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); Uses workplace tools and equipment as instructed; Report’s workplace hazards, injuries, and illness as soon as possible following event
  • Complies with the requirements of Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Support Problem Solving processes through the following methods leading complex issue resolution, lending technical support to root cause analysis and development / selection of potential solutions for prevention and detection. Leverage appropriate tools based on the situation
  • Continually assess risk and provide recommendations to plant leadership in areas of responsibility
  • Moderates and ensures execution of preventive quality methods (e.g., FMEA) and reactive quality methods (e.g., fault tree analysis)
  • Monitor & report internal performance metrics, escalate trends & risks.

Key Qualifications/ Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • 8-10+ years of quality or development experience in automotive industry (including Co-Op experience)
  • Familiarity with quality engineering processes and concepts
  • Experience with quality management systems and knowledge of IATF 16949
  • Experience with conducting and supporting internal/external audits and engineering quality methods (FMEA, APQP, PPAP, Automotive SPICE)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally

Team Lead Specific Requirements

  • Provide guidance to project team on product, technology, and methods (functionally, technologically) in planning and execution of development quality activities in the Magna Electronics Division
  • Serves as primary technical expert in the Engineering Quality Team, both internally within the team as well as towards overall Magna Electronics development teams.
  • Uses expert-level knowledge of engineering techniques, principals, and procedures to ensure professional execution of engineering quality activities for the Magna Electronics Division
  • Serves as primary liaison between the North American Development Quality Team and the Quality Responsible for Development Quality tasks, methods, and processes
  • Plans, executes, and controls preventive engineering quality activities for development projects and serial production support in accordance with corporate guidelines (e.g., according to Automotive SPICE requirements)
  • Plans, implements, controls, and improves Magna Electronics quality management system according to IATF 16949 and corporate guidelines
  • Plans, executes, and provides solutions for internal departments to eliminate weaknesses and non-conformities within the quality management system
  • Drives preparation, execution and follow up of external audits (by customers, certification companies)
  • Ensures planning, execution, and control of quality improvement projects (incl. lessons learned) and problem solving
  • Creates and conducts training and education of other departments regarding quality management system and engineering quality activities
  • Drives cooperation, communication, and alignment of quality activities with internal departments, production plants, suppliers, and customers
  • Complies with all Magna policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
