About the Role

Supervises electricians, mechanics, machinists, and the maintenance staff directly involved with maintenance operations.  Oversees equipment and facilities, (i.e. planning, realization, sub-contracting follow-up, restart, validation) to ensure optimum capital utilization. Protects the interests of the employees and the Division in accordance with the Corporate Constitution, Company policies, and Magna Employee’s Charter Principles. 

Your Responsibilities

Recommends the purchase of new equipment to assure all corporate requirements are met.

Supervises both repair and preventative maintenance requirements for all manufacturing equipment.

Defines and monitors quality, cost, and delivery objectives established for external companies as required: subcontracting, ordinary and major maintenance actions, energy, security systems etc.

Administers computer aided maintenance management system; controls associated records.

Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the product, process, and quality system.

Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through designated channels.

Verifies the implementation of solutions to the product, process, and quality system.

Controls further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Someone who:

Adheres to company systems and policies (TS16949, 5S, ISO 14001, employee handbook).

Ensures & enforces conformance to all established policies, procedures, and rules as defined by company systems and policies.

Directs and guides activities of the maintenance team.

Recruits, coaches and counsels employees for success and conducts performance reviews.

Participates in health and safety workplace inspections, as required.

 

Participates in the investigation of accidents including: determination of the underlying occurrence, identifying the need for corrective and/or preventive action, recommending solutions for improvement, and recording results.

Your preferred qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum (5) years maintenance/engineering experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and automation.
  • Working knowledge of quality and health, safety, and environmental systems.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and technical presentations.
  • Proficient with utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and database applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated successful performance with independent problem solving.
  • Innovation and change management skills.
