Role Summary

Applies process engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.  Manages a team of Process Engineers and Process Techs to achieve goals and objectives to complete projects assigned by the General Manager.  Protects the interests of the employees and the Division in accordance with the Corporate Constitution, Company policies, and Magna Employee’s Charter Principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and assesses manufacturing process, concepts and equipment alternatives to manufacture complex components and improve practices in foam bun molding
  • Engineers the selected process, tools, and facilities.  Identifies the key characteristics to be controlled to reduce variability and prevent defects.
  • Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system, recommends and initiates solutions
  • Verifies the implementation of solutions to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Controls further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Involved in development of robotic pour patterns
  • Troubleshoots and leaders initiatives to address quality concerns
  • Leads sample parts and prototype parts coordination
  • Supports production as the process liaison to chemical supplier
  • Coordinate improvement of production parts with the Process Engineers/Supervisor/Manager
  • Communicate problems for resolution with team and proper escalation
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Knowledge of Foam Bun Molding Process preferred.
  • Knowledge of polyurethane foam systems preferred
  • Knowledge of polyurethane raw materials and constituents preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful performance with independent and team problem solving, presentations, leadership, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within and across departments to meet changing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and technical presentations. Ability to manage communications.
  • Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, develop solutions and lead implementation.
Additional Information

Normal amount of sitting.  Continuous amount of standing and walking.   Moderate lifting and performing repetitive tasks.  Average mobility to move around an shop environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require travel.
