Role Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing the maintenance operations at the LVSS facility. Ensuring that all maintenance personnel provide a high level of customer service to manufacturing, engineering, other plant, and office functions. Translating the facility operational plan into a maintenance strategy and implementing continuous improvement efforts to improve maintenance and manufacturing processes. Support manufacturing and engineering in the successful implementation of capital and tooling projects into the facility. Oversee the design and implementation of a maintenance related training program and provide leadership to the maintenance organization. Responsible for supervising and coaching employees to achieve goals and maintain established standards of safety, customer service, productivity, and good housekeeping at LVSS

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and practices at LVSS. Ensures employees know how to perform each job assigned to them in an efficient manner and that they are fully aware of the correct and safe way to operate their equipment.  Ensures employees are instructed on the use and comply with Company standards on the use of personal protective equipment. Responsible for recognizing and rectifying unsafe working conditions, maintains excellent housekeeping in the department and ensures that a proper investigation of any accident is completed and reported in a timely manner. Comply with all Company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Ensure that all maintenance departmental objectives and activities are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter, Magna Corporate Constitution and Operation Principles
  • Responsible for providing clear and specific performance feedback. and appraises the effectiveness of employees on their annual developmental review
  • Promote and manage cost reduction programs for the maintenance area. Responsible for developing and ensuring compliance to the plant maintenance budget.
  • Provide leadership and management of the entire maintenance organization to motivate, develop, and monitor employee performance levels directed at achieving assigned goals and targets.
  • Establish maintenance goals, and define key maintenance measures for success that align with Magna cooperate objectives
  • Develop an annual maintenance plan, ensure proper completion of scheduling of major plant projects, plant shutdown maintenance program, quoting of estimated hours of downtime required for repairing breakdowns and provide necessary updates to facility management and oversee the implementation of ongoing and preventative maintenance on all LVSS equipment and authorizes all maintenance related purchase orders
  • Adjust schedules of equipment, maintenance, and maintain records that ensure that all equipment will be kept maintained and serviced.
  • Ensure compliance of all outside contractors within Company guidelines.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering and or certification in relevant trade, knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance operations and related processes with a minimum of seven years progressive supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in an automotive (JIT) Tier 1 manufacturing environment
  • A high level of analytical ability is required to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be proficient with computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software
  • Good understanding of capital and expense budgets, understanding of operations planning with strong project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and present information to suppliers, management, employees, and co-workers.
