About the Role
We are looking for a Buyer to perform the duties described below for our plant in Spartanburg SC USA.
Your Responsibilities
- Accompany new projects from the customer inquiry through the start of production to the end of the spare parts phase and always have the overall optimum in your sights.
- Locate and select new sources of supply, establish new suppliers and coordinate order maintenance with existing suppliers for direct materials.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Measure and report vendor performances.
- Responsible for commercial negotiations of both local and global supplier.
- Support Engineering Change activities with suppliers.
- Manage supplier files, component files, RFQ, contract review, etc.
- Support supplier improvement initiatives at local level when required
- Support to Supplier Quality, Sales, Engineering, and Project teams for existing programs and new business opportunities
- Resolve conflicts that arise with supplier delivery schedules, raw materials, inventory, etc.
- Work in cross-functional project teams to ensure business processes and technologies have reliable and current purchasing data.
- Provide decision support and insights for complex purchasing decisions.
- Track supplier milestones within customer projects.
- Establish purchasing requirements and perform tender process to meet monthly budget targets.
- Develop cost database detailing all material, labor, and overhead costs of purchased products and services.
- Assist with the development of departmental procedures and ensure that established procedures are properly understand and being followed in regards to areas of direct responsibility.
Who we are looking for
- Functional experience in areas of strategic planning, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain management and supplier quality.
- Good mathematical aptitude and problem solving skills
- Understanding and applying INCOTERMS is fundamental
- Up to 25% percent Travel required
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Your preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline and 2 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment or more than 5 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment
