Role Summary

Plans, supports, and implements supplier quality programs in conjunction with Corporate Materials Department to improve the quality of products purchased by the Company.  Formulates and/or assists in formulating internal/external supplier quality control policies and procedures and development of quality standards . May supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff.

Key Responsibilities

Decisions involve moderate risk to the organization although results may have a long-lasting impact.  Primarily involves intermediate through advanced level work, moving toward complete technical competency and mastery of the field.

  1. Plans, supports, and implements supplier quality programs in conjunction with Quality strategy.  Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads and directs technical work and departmental efforts related to quality engineering activities.
  2. Provides quality engineering support by evaluating, selecting and developing a supply base and assesses new supplier technology to obtain maximum quality and productivity levels.  Reviews and audits supplier products, processes, and/or systems performance and provides suggestions for improvement.
  3. Formulates and/or assists in formulating internal and external supplier quality control policies and procedures and development of quality standards. 
  4. Serves as a technical liaison and coordinates activity of resources. 
  5. Participates in quality planning during launch phase of new products.  Works with suppliers and Advanced Quality Engineering to develop Advanced Quality tools. Works with suppliers to support them in the Production Part Approval Process leading to full approval of their product for production use.
  6. Performs other duties as necessary.  May supervise other staff.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering field with understanding of quality engineering practices, principles, processes, etc.; or equivalent.  
  2. Minimum three years of experience in quality engineering, project/program management; or equivalent. 
  3. Demonstrated creativity and ingenuity to work on moderate to long-term assignments which are broad in nature.  Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time.  Must be able to work independently.
  4. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties. 
  5. Must be able to travel within North America up to 50% of the time.
