About the Role

Under the direction of the IT manager, the IT technician ensures that all systems are running smoothly. Maintain open communications with the department manager in order to support a good team mentality. Provide all users with a safe, secure computing environment which takes the proper precautions to insure the confidentiality and stability of MEVS’s data. Assist users with any PC related problems they may encounter. Support all hardware and software in house as needed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist users with installation of software deemed necessary for their job requirements. Provide support for resetting of passwords and assisting with other access needs with appropriate prior approvals.  Provide minimal support of installed applications such as Microsoft Office products.
  • Efficiently support MEVS’s internal network. Provide minimal support of installed applications such as Microsoft Office products.
  • Monitor network activity to identify bottlenecks or lapses in the flow of information.  Monitor system warning lights and messages and take immediate action to address such issues.  Monitor network traffic and bring to the IT Manager’s attention activity which may result in violation of usage policies.
  • Support Ethernet cabling needs by installing and patching in network connections for users. Identify and correct IP and other conflicts.
  • Perform helpdesk duties and support all production and office hardware needs.  Perform appropriate upgrades to IT equipment to insure maximum performance.
  • Maintain proper security on files/folders/systems to ensure data integrity.

Who we are looking for

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Minimum of two years’ experience within the information Technology field.
  • Experience administering a Windows IP-based network.  
  • Experience with Cisco & HP switches, Active Directory, Windows Server, and Wi-Fi setup
  • Ability to provide quality technical support for all users.
  • Must be able to research available options on upcoming hardware and software purchases and recommend a preferred course of action.

  • Ability to maintain a responsive attitude to user needs.
  • Must be able to research available options on upcoming hardware and software purchases and recommend a preferred course of action.
  • Must be able to obtain competitive quotes on purchases to insure that MEVS receives the best value possible.
  • Must be an excellent self-motivator and be able to work well under minimal direct oversight.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing not a requirement, but a definite plus.
