About the Role

The Material Planning Supervisor position supervises and coordinates all activities of material planning with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness and service as well as assists in managing day to day activities of Material Planning team members.

Your Responsibilities

  • Utilize ERP (CMS) to generate release forecasts (830’s) and daily ship schedules (862’s) to Suppliers.
  • Provide data to Materials Manager to promote lean inventory levels in accordance with defined safety stock levels.
  • Work closely with all departments that impact inventory accuracy to determine root cause for inventory inaccuracies.
  • Maintain departmental filing system.
  • Assist in physical inventory events.
  • Work with Engineering, Production, Finance, and other departments with co coordinating Engineering Changes.
  • Takes part in the continuous improvement process to improve productivity and quality (provides suggestions at team meetings, understands losses, and gives ideas/solutions, participates in trials/experiments, volunteers on committee or focus group activities, etc.) and focuses on solutions.
  • Assist with BOM reviews.
  • Assist with annual MMOG self-audit.
  • Lead and schedule the activities of team members
  • Develop Team Members through coaching and mentoring
  • Promote accountability through application of the progressive discipline policy
  • Provide formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members
  • Monitor, track and improve upon key indicators.
  • Ensure training documentation and training for Team Members as outlined in the training matrix are up to date and completed.
  • Cross train Team Members to maximize flexibility
  • Conduct accident / incident investigations
  • Complete daily layered audits to include safety, standardized work, housekeeping, 5S, and Quality inspection reports.
  • Plan and direct the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower.
  • Facilitate start of shift / end of shift meetings

Who we are looking for

  • Determine appropriate stock levels and required space for purchase parts, help create layouts and picking routes for material delivery.
  • Maintain JIT communications with Supplier and ensure Suppliers are shipping to the provided 862 releases.
  • Work with Supplier on past dues and escalate as needed.
  • Supervise all deviations, shortage, or overages daily and reasons for the change.
  • Analyze Supplier releases to ensure Supplier orders support our Production plan.
  • Communicate any component shortages to Materials Manager and follow our escalation process.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Minimum one-year leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • • Minimum three years related experience
  • Community College Diploma in Material Management or equivalent experience
  • • Effective verbal and written communication
  • • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • • Proficient in computer use
  • • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
  • • Must work well under pressure
