About the Role
The Automation Systems Technician contributes to the safe and efficient operation of equipment and machinery by accurately programming and changing Programmable Logic Controls and testing/repairing the electronic components as required.
Your Responsibilities

Work independently and with minimal supervision.

Plant support in troubleshooting/repairs and systems improvements (optimization).

Specify and order safety components (e.g. light curtains, safety relays, safety I/O blocks for PLC’s).

Keep current knowledge on PLC programming standards, robot safety, new safety components and materials, safety software for calculating reliability levels and other controls-related items.

Establishes and follows-up full project implementation including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction and commissioning.

Plant support in testing, repairing, calibrating electric or electronic components.

Maintains and upgrades all PLC related software: assist in training of staff on electronic equipment.

Develops controls, and designs concepts.

Computer programming, AutoCAD, Office applications.

Comes to work each day, as scheduled.

Approaches each day and each challenge with a positive attitude.

Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.
Who we are looking for
Someone Who:
-
Has a proven ability to interact well with co-workers (Electricians, Millwrights, Tool Makers, Operators), and promote the “Team” attitude to troubleshoot and restore production flow.

Has robot and Machine Automation experience.
Your preferred qualifications
-
Completion of post-secondary education, and eligible for registration as a C.E.T., with three years of electrical experience. Experience with various PLC and Industrial controls systems.

Familiar with PLC programming and implementation (Alan-Bradly/Siemens).

Safey Circuit design, program startup, verification and trouble shooting.

HMI development and implementation (RsView, Panelview).

Microsoft Computer Operating system setup and maintenance.

Experience with AutoCAD, Office applications.
