Formet is one of the largest manufacturing employers in Southwestern Ontario producing body and chassis components for assembly plants across North America. Our 1.1 million square foot facility features industry-leading hydroforming, roll-forming, hot-stamping, robotic assembly and post-assembly coating processes. This position is responsible for the ongoing administrative/clerical activities for the Department to support the continuous supply and availability of all production and maintenance materials, parts, chemicals, tooling, MRO, capital equipment, protective equipment, office supplies and equipment, services and other items to satisfy the need of all departments in the organization. The Team Member is expected to initiate solutions to an array of situations, and maintain the confidentiality of the department.



     Minimum 1 year of purchasing experience.

 Possess or be actively working toward Advanced status in "Professional Programme" of SCMA/SCMAO.

 Diploma in Purchasing or Materials Management


     Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations and Formet’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.

 Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.

 Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.

 Performs all daily clerical activities of the department including; creating and issuing purchase orders, obtaining confirmation of purchase orders from suppliers, updating SAP based on supplier responses.

 Ensures purchase orders are entered and issued in a timely manner.

 Assures on time (as needed) delivery to help timely program completion and help maximize Formet profits.

 Communicates effectively with requisitioning departments and arranges for proper and accurate information exchange between originator and vendor.

 Reconciles variances between Purchase Orders and Invoices (Price, Quantity, Incoterms, Terms of Payment)

 Maintains the files, statistical reports and records of the department.

 Maintain vendor file, purchase price, price fluctuations and quality records.

 Understands and maintains the Purchasing requirements defined in QMS.

 Work on projects, reports and contribute to various studies as required

 Maintains confidentiality of appropriate information.

 Attain functional understanding and proficiency of all application software used in the department (Microsoft Office, SAP etc).

 Assigned projects to develop into the MRO Buyer position

 Train other employees as required.

 Perform other duties as designated.



 Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.

 Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant. 

 Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.

 Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.

 Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.

 As with Safety, Security is everyone’s responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.


Overtime after 40 hours per week.

Shift premiums of $0.75/hour (afternoons) and $1.25/hour (nights)

2 weeks of paid vacation (3 weeks after 3 years) + 3 Personal Paid Holidays (PPH) + 2 half days.
