Position Summary

To increase uptime, throughput, efficiency and quality, through the process of maintaining, designing, developing and continuously improving our equipment and the utilization of technology to ensure the best quality frames are produced.

Recommended Qualifications

3 year college diploma in one of the following areas of study:

  • Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Electromechanical Engineering Technology
  • Controls & Robotics Engineering Technology

In addition must have one of the following trades:

  • Instrumentation and Control Technician 447A
  • Industrial Electrician 442A
  • Construction & Maintenance Electrician 309A

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement for optimizing production processes.
  • Maintaining automated production lines in a just-in-time manufacturing environment
  • Being able to solve unique problems, continuously expanding the boundaries of your existing knowledge or skills acquired by one's own efforts.
  • Fast paced production environment.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and working conditions.
  • Read and make modifications to electrical prints in Auto CAD.
  • Work independently as required or as a team.
  • Siemens S7 architecture with LAD and STL programming.
  • Beckhoff architecture with LD and ST programming.
  • Industrial Networks Ethernet/IP, Profibus and ProfiNET.
  • Understanding of hydraulic schematics.
  • Digital and analog IO field devices.
  • Electro-hydraulic control systems.
  • 600 volt AC 3 phase motors, DC motors and drives.
  • Control-reliable safety circuits.


Wage: $37.87 CAD per hour
Shift: Rotating every 2 weeks between days, afternoons and nights
Overtime after 40 hours per week.
Shift premiums of $0.75/hour (afternoons) and $1.25/hour (nights)
Vacation: 2 weeks of paid vacation (3 weeks after 3 years) + 3 Personal Paid Holidays (PPH) + 2 half days.

Working Conditions

  • Office and Manufacturing Environments
  • Able to work shift work.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

Safety and Housekeeping

  • Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.
  • Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
  • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.
  • Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
